Reading Response to Everyday by David Levithan

After reading Everyday, I learned many things. One is to be satisfied with the life you are given. In the book, the main character A is a soul that inhabits a new body every 24 hours. But throughout the book, A learns that he/she can't have an independent life without hurting someone else's. For example, after being in a teenage boy's body for a day, A fell in love with the boy's girlfriend. Soon, A when in other bodies, would visit the girlfriend Rhiannon in various locations. However, many lives were affected by this, including a boy he inhabited once. The boy was about to go on a vacation to Hawaii, but A changed that when he/she left the boy’s family to see Rhiannon for the day. When A came back, he got into huge trouble. In addition, the love story between A and Rhiannon couldn’t last forever. A couldn’t see Rhiannon for some days because of the body A was in, and Rhiannon began to have doubts about the relationship, and A. In the end, the only way for the two to be together was if A could figure out a way to inhabit a body for more than a day. He/she knew that by doing this, the relationship was not only hurting others, but it also was keeping Rhiannon from living her life as a teenager. So A knew that he had to set Rhiannon free. All in all, your life may not be perfect right now, but keep it. Unlike A, you get the experience of growing up, and learning in your own body how to do so.
